Last September I was really excited to be included in a virtual expert round table Newsweek magazine was putting together on CRM. This was part of a new project of theirs called Driving Innovation, which would discuss issues of interest to business. I was told it would be posted on the new website they were putting together within a month. So I waited to October and didn't see it. Checked back in November and didn't see it. December....nope.
So I had pretty much forgot about it until early January when a friend of mine sort of mentioned to me matter-of-factly that he had seen my picture in Newsweek recently. Unfortunately he didn't have the issue anymore. So I immediately try to find someone local who subscribes to Newsweek to see it. Unfortunately for me (again) none of my friends get it - note to self I've got to find a few friends with culture. Anyway, when I went to every Borders and Barnes & Noble in metro Atlanta the issue was nowhere to be found. Went back to the Newsweek site for Driving Innovation and still saw the same three people there from September.
Fast forward to this Monday when I get an email from someone I hadn't heard from since 1985. He said he saw my picture in an ad in Black Enterprise. He then googled me and found my email address. Now I was really happy to hear from my old buddy, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how I could end up in BE as I had never sent a picture to them. Then it hit me....could he have been mistaken about the magazine he saw me in? So I took a chance and went to the Newsweek Driving Innovation site, and there I was! And yes, it was Newsweek that apparently had my mug included in an ad promoting the Driving Innovation site. And this time around, I was able to get the issue.
What a way to find out!
